Largely an unwritten rule but as the club, especially in the early days, attracted and relied on rusty old cricketers returning to the game, those with little experience but great interest or youth we simply thought the best plan was to try to give everybody a game. Our aim is simple, as far as possible every player should be involved in each and every match, which means a fair opportunity to, at least, bat or to bowl.

This does not mean that we are happy to lose, far from it, but what is more enjoyable is a closely contested match where all have had the opportunity to make a contribution? Although the management of our ethos falls to our Captain, as a group we try to play cricket as it is should be played with good grace, good humour and good cricket from each of us.  Let cricket be the winner.

As Virat Kohli said “No cricket team in the world depends on one or two players. The team always plays to win”.
